When feeding your dog it's only a simple process of filling the food and water dishes and placing them back on the floor, right? It's not complex, because dogs dont need anything fancy. Many veterinarians do not agree with that statement. Although plenty of pet owners do feed their dogs in this manner, eating and drinking from an elevated feeder is really better for the dog for many reasons. At first it might not seem like an important difference, but the health problems that can be easily resolved by using an elevated dog feeder are numerous.

If you take a few seconds to think about it, the concept of eating or drinking with your neck and back bent doesnt seem very comfortable or enjoyable does it? For a senior dog particularly, an elevated feeder is significant to their health. Like all animals, even people, older dogs typically eat smaller portions anyway. Add to that the discomfort of eating from the floor and the potential that your pet isn't getting proper nutrition increases. Older dogs need to be as comfortable as they can to continue to be healthy and get the fuel they desperately need. Ideology is applicable to animals that may have arthritis or joint problems. A elevated dog feeders is a fantastic item to use in ensuring the appropriate nutrition of a senior or ailing animal.

Lets consider general housekeeping for a moment. Dog dishes that are placed on the ground rapidly become a breeding ground for parasites and mold. The moisture from the water the dog loses when he raises his head to swallow collects underneath the dishes and makes the perfect environment for dangerous little pests to live. This isnt safe for the dog or the humans in the house. When dogs drink from an elevated feeder it they don't need to raise their heads in order to swallow and any water that does escape them tends to run back into the bowl rather than onto the ground. An elevated feeder will definitely help to eliminate this probable health hazard to the whole family.

Another benefit to using an elevated feeder is gas. Feel free to giggle, there isnt one single pet owner alive who hasnt experienced their dogs occasional periods of noxious gas. If you need another reason to switch to a dog feeders this is it. An elevated feeder allows the dog to keep their head at a more natural angle while they eat. This means that your dog gulps less, reducing air intake into the stomach and eliminating the gas. Without question the animal also feels much better without having the constant bloated feeling that comes with having gas - turns out to be a definite win-win situation for both of you.

On a more serious note, eating and drinking directly from the ground is really unhealthy for the four-legged member of the family. Some dogs are hindered by a condition called megaesophagus. This is a condition in which the muscles of the esophagus become loose and too large. Eating from the floor forces the affected dog to work against gravity with faulty equipment. Since the esophagus is weak to begin with, the food often collects there rather than continuing to stomach. An elevated feeder lessens the work the muscles are forced to do and aids gravity in getting the food to the stomach, where it should be.

There are a lot of specific reasons to spoil and care for your dog. The most important of those being the day you brought him into your house; you in essence made a promise to care for him for the rest of his life. By giving your beloved pet the proper materials to ensure lasting health is just part of doing your job.
