Travel Barcelona

By Justin Meadows - Guest blogger traveling in Spain.

I arrived in Spain on Sunday. I finally feel like I'm starting to get used to the time difference. When I first arrived, I was so out of it. I really don't like that jet lagged feeling. (A first for me). So far things in Barcelona are great. My host family is about 15 minutes away from school by subway, but the subway is so easy to use and not too expensive. I'm pretty sure my Spanish is already starting to improve. However, I must confess that it's very hard to get up in the morning and have people yapping to you in Spanish when your mind can barely function in English at that time of day. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it though (or at least get more used to it).

The other day after class, a bunch of us headed down to Las Ramblas to walk around. That was pretty cool. Some of the street performers are amazing. I also headed over to the waterfront today to see the Mediterranean up close and personal for the first time. Pretty hard to believe I'm actually here! This weekend, I'm hoping to head down the coast a bit as I've heard the really good beaches are south of Barcelona. So far the weather's been pretty good, but it's been hot.

I'll write some more soon...
