Finding and choosing the perfect program for you
Now that you've had some time to figure out what your budget is and your time available, it's time to start looking into finding the right program for you. Back in the day, the only option to study abroad was through your own college or university. Today, not only are there college and university sponsored programs here in the US, but also foreign university sponsored programs, programs offered by private companies, programs offered by small schools in country, etc.
So the big question is where to begin? Of course the internet has a ton of information, and I definitely recommend comparing programs to see what fits your budget, time and goals. You can also check the study abroad office on campus. Many of these offices stockpile information on programs that are not directly affiliated with the college or university per se.
Your local bookstore also has guides to studying abroad (similar to the college guides you may have looked at when you were college hunting.)
Finally, sometimes the most helpful piece of advice is to ask around. Referrals from friends or people you know is a great way to find out what else is out there that you may be missing.
Good luck in your search!!
