When the perfect traveler checks in his/her baggage, it will be within the luggage allowance, therefore avoiding the embarrassing scenario of having to remove items or worse, pay a hefty fine. They will have packed their suitcase carefully, bringing miniature rather than full-size toiletries and not wasted space/weight with unnecessary items of clothing / footwear by checking the weather forecast for the country where their headed prior to departure. What´s more the perfect traveler will have weighed their suitcase at home to double check that they are well within the weight limit stated my the airline. The perfect traveler will board the flight (which she booked months ago for a good price) showing his/her passport and boarding pass which have been conveniently stowed in an easily-accessible over-the-shoulder bag.
His/her hand luggage will be a small bag which has been carefully packed to contain only the essentials. These may include a travel pillow, eye mask and earplugs in case they want to sleep. Also, an iPod and headphones which can also be used to watch in-flight films or listen to in-flight radio. They will spend a little time researching local words and phrases for his/her destination country using a phrasebook purchased in the airport. They will have an odorless, light packed lunch so as not to a) inflict an unpleasant smell on the other passengers and b) begin to feel nauseas immediately after finishing lunch. They will have popped a light jacket or cardigan in their bag in case they get chilly with the in-flight air-con and they will have a vest under their top so that they can strip of when they get to their destination (if it´s a hot one!)
The perfect traveler will be wearing comfortable, flat shoes so that they don´t have to take them off during the flight, again to avoid having to inflict unpleasant smells on the other passengers. They will have selected an aisle seat so that they don´t have to make everyone move when they take an hourly toilet break – a good idea because it’s a chance to stretch your legs and get the blood pumping, thus not running the risk of blood clots if you´re on a long-haul flight. Not only, will the perfect traveler be wearing layers of clothing, each of those layers will have been freshly laundered before the flight, once again to protect the other passengers from nasty smells. Moreover, the perfect traveler will have thought twice before dousing him/herself in her favorite perfume/after-shave, bearing in mind that it may not be to the other 200 people´s taste that are going to be sitting in a very close proximity for a number of hours.
Once in his/her destination country, the perfect traveler will withdraw some local currency from a cash machine using a Travelex card, therefore avoiding extortionate ATM fees. He/she will hop on a coach that she booked online from home which will drop her virtually outside the accommodation that she organized months ago. He/she will have a happy stay in her destination country and not dread the flight home one bit because he/she is the perfect traveler.
