Studying Spanish in Sevilla is a perfect way to round out your knowledge of the language in a practical and gorgeous setting, but did you know that the city has its very own unique holiday that thousands upon thousands of people flock there to see? It's the Feria de abril de Sevilla, or "the Seville April Fair".
This week-long celebration begins on the Monday two weeks after Easter and originated as an agricultural and livestock fair in 1847. Today, more than a million Spaniards and visitors are usually in attendance, and traditional Spanish customs are revisited. Men and women don traditional garb, ride horses, eat tapas, drink wine, and dance the Sevilliana. Each day of the week is greeted with a parade of horse-drawn carriages, and the atmosphere is consistently jubilant!
This celebration would be an excellent opportunity to practice your Spanish vocabulary, so why not plan your own 'Feria de Sevilla' trip for next April?
