We at All Study Abroad travel a lot, and have tried out a lot of
luggage over the years. Our old standby, the
Patagonia MLC is a great bag, but
recently a bag from High Sierra caught our eye. The
High Sierra Atq Collection Carry On Drop Bottom Wheeled Duffel
is a super bag for study abroad and travel in
general. We’ll go through the pros and cons to help guide you with making your
decision.

Pros:
Lightweight, wheels easily. This bag fit pretty easily into the
overhead luggage compartment when the expander option wasn’t enabled. When it
is enabled, it’s a tight squeeze, but certainly do-able. We packed the bag
without using the expander, then when we were at our destination, unzipped it
to allow for extra room. We LOVE the wheels/backpack option! This bag does a
good job of keeping a lot of interior space while still having wheels and
backpack straps, and staying pretty lightweight. While fully packed, you can
still lift it with one hand pretty easily.
Also love the separate compartment inside for dirty laundry, and two compartments for toiletries (lined with water-proof material), and your travel documents.
What it carries:
We packed the bag with 3 pairs of shoes, pajamas, 5 shirts, 2
pairs of pants, 5 pairs of socks and underwear, 3 dresses, a swimsuit, a
sweater, and toiletries.
Cons:
With the expander option enabled, it’s pushing the limit on what
you can carry on the airplane.
Overall, a well-designed bag, great value for the price.
